well lets start a union here, because I don't think the prog idea is stupid, but I think we do need to decide if you want it as a sub forum or as its own stand alone, once thats taken care of we'll see how do able it is (mods wanna drop a hint) and then if all of that works we'll marshall support from the masses.

Great, i guess its really up to the mods to decide weither it will be a sub-forum or a forum of its own.

Lets just hope that if we do make a prog forum no one will make a Good Charlotte thread.

well they will, its an absolulte garuntee, and anytime someones paid to advertise some artist no ones heard of (for good reason) those will end up there too, but there all over the place. No one really likes GC that comes here, and if they do when they show up, it goes away when you discover other music with honest passion.

But Rock and Metal have little to nothing in common as far as im concerned. Maybe they same fan base, but Aerosmith and Messugah couldn't be any more diffrent.

So, if there is a prog forum, would you prefer it to be a sub-forum to rock, or its own forum?

And i think a lot of great bands are unknown simply because people dont have the chance to check them out, maybe because they are very obscure and never get played on the radio or mtv, or because their albums are hard as hell to find, prog isnt popular with kids at all nowadays, simply because they are never exposed to it, they are exposed to emo and pop punk because thats what the media sells. Despite that fact there is a very large worldwide following, you could call it a underground following, but its a big following, which is one primary reason why im petitioning for a prog forum. I think it would also be great to expose more people to the genre, educate them and expand their tastes, i have tons of prog stuff that i would gladly send to anyone who asks for it...And i would definitely make sure the forum stays alive. I would also keep an eye out for trolls and spammers.

I don't think its lack of exposure, I think its lack of attention span, but then again, thats just me.

progressive music.
Anyway...i think it should be a sub-forum. as ive said numerous times i think prog is far too varied and loose to be considered a genre.
and i agree with big3 in thinking its more a lack of attention span. bands like floyd, radiohead, mars volta, muse, tool, arcade fire etc have all had media exposure...hell floyd and radiohead are two of the biggest bands in british history while muse, arcade fire and volta are two of the biggest bands around today. if thats not prog getting exposure then i dont know what is.

Not really. You'd have to bring it up with the site's admin, gregb. Personally, I'd still like to see a Soul forum, a separate metal subforum under rock, and subforums for the Lounge. But, that's just me. ;-) So get his attention, shake him a couple times, and see what happens.
