I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.

King Crimson is definitely a dumb addition but proto-metal like Zeppelin is acceptable and Dirt is in fact a metal album that's fine.

Thanks guys. So it's between Metal Storm and Junkee then. You're all right about the other lists; I don't want something too traditional, too easy, albums I've heard before, nor do I want a list of completely inaccessible albums for me. The aim here is not to do MY top 100 Metal albums (who would want that) or indeed yours, or some random guy from RYM or ****ing Listserve or Pitchfdork or Facebook or Reddit or whatever, but a general, agreed (mostly) and accepted list of what the majority of metalheads consider the 100 best albums ever. I want this list to challenge me - though not kill me - and I intend to do my best to give every album - yes, even Zu or Gorguts - a fair shake, so there's no point in it being all Iron Maiden, Metallica and Saxon or whatever.

I'll look at those two lists and decide which one to use. Thanks for yer input.

Even Norg.

I'd go with the Metal Storm list cause it's got nice mix of tradition and newer albums even if a few of their choices are a bit dodgy for my personal taste.
Jesus, man, that Metal Storm list is tame even for me! Uriah Heep? Rush? Two Priest albums one after the other? Come on: we can do better than that surely? You wanna try putting one together?

Fuckin' hell! This random RYM Dude seems to have put more thought into his list than half these magazines and websites!

Yeah but as a veteran of trawling through the same interchangeable lists for decades it's still better than your average list. I'm grading on a scale.

Absolutely not.

Severely deficient in extreme metal. Honestly on a second look the Junkee list is easily the best and most balanced list. You'll want to not hate Neurosis though.

Right then, I'm going to go for the Junkee one. However if anyone wants to add their two cents, thinks this album should be replaced by that, why is this one left out, how is that one on the list etc I'll hear ya. I'll leave it open to interpretation/alteration for one week, though I'll be starting today at no. 100 so that won't change. After that week has elapsed, don't bitch at me about the list. I've tried to find the best I could, have solicited the opinion and advice of our resident metalhead and this is the best that can be found, now you have a chance to "make it better", but I'm going to have to have a definitive list to work from so it needs to be resolved by Friday next. After that you can all fuck off, this is the list I'm using.

So if you have opinions, shout now or forever hold your dick. Or someone else's dick. Whichever is your preference; I'm not here to judge. Except for these albums. I'll judge them like Dredd on his toughest day.

Okay this is how this is going to go (notwithstanding any changes in the list):
I have mapped this out as a two-year project. Why? Because I intend to do what some/most of you have been pushing me to do on various albums, which is listen to them more than once, if I'm hearing them for the first time. I will be spending a week drowning in each album and writing my review, which will then be posted seven days later. As this is now Saturday I will be trying to post every Saturday from this on. Obviously this does not hold true for the albums I'm more familiar with, but ones I don't know, or have only heard once or twice will be given sufficient time to impress me. I will endeavour to give each album 3 - 5 listens, depending - assuming I'm not blown away first time of course - and see if my view changes.

For those who haven't got the list or don't care about it but want to follow this, the album up first will be this. In future the next album on the list will be posted in the OP, which I will now be clearing of all other text.

100.

That album was one of the first I truly loved when I was getting into metal in high school. You better have the correct opinion.
