Both Folk Punk and Pop Rock attract me. Folk punk is a sub-genre I've been wanting to get more into but Pop Rock is ultimately easier to rank since it is more contemporary. Don't like Abbey Road and Ram together though (two Beatle connections). Maybe replace Ram or Abbey Road with Badfinger's No Dice or maybe another classic album that's out there.

In any event I'm good with folk punk or pop rock.

R.E.M. - Automatic for the People

Pop Rock for the next battle is ok with me, also.

Nirvana has been eliminated and we enter final round.

Final Round
1. Radiohead - OK Computer
3. R.E.M. - Automatic for the People

Vote 1 off. I'll leave one extra day of voting so I don't have to update this thread on Christmas day, so the voting for this round will end on December 26.

This one is really close. OK Computer is arguably, in my opinion, the most ambitious masterpiece since Sgt. Pepper.

But REM rates as my second most favorite band after the Beatles and Automatic, to me, is right up there with Murmur and Reckoning.

And, in the end, I have to give the edge to the boys from Athens, Georgia.

So with that, I eliminate...

Radiohead- OK Computer

Wrapping up the battle now and, as you might have surmised, Radiohead's OK Computer is the winner.

Results
10. Muse - Origin of Symmetry
9. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
8. Weezer - Weezer [Blue Album]
7. U2 - Achtung Baby
6. The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
5. Soundgarden - Superunknown
4. The Smiths - The Smiths
3. Nirvana - In Utero
2. R.E.M. - Automatic for the People
1. Radiohead - OK Computer

As for the next genre to do I'd vote for Pop Rock as well, so most likely we're doing that come New Year's time. I'll have a look at the edits to the list suggested by RS in the mean time, and then post it shortly after the new year rolls around

Really happy to see that after four years the concept was revived. Also hello everyone. Back for a little while. Maybe for good. We'll see.

Oh wow, welcome back dude! Sorry to hijack your thing btw, but yeah I'm glad we were able to get it going again

Sorry for taking a little while to come back to this. I think Abbey Road would be too essential for this genre to leave out but I'm open to replacing Ram with something else. I'd personally nominate Prefab Sprout's Steve McQueen album, but since the list already consists exclusively of 60s-80s albums it may be an idea to include something more recent, such as something by Fiona Apple or even an early Coldplay album for that matter.

Let me know what your opinions are, and then we'll get this going again within a couple of days
