Rock and Roll Music - Beach Boys or The Beatles Poll
Growing up in the early 70's there was a local radio station (WLS) that did a poll like this and it lasted for a few weeks and got quite a bit of airplay. 50 years later, I figured it would be interesting to see what people think about each version. I'll hold off on my pick for now.

I'm biased because I grew up with it, but I much prefer the Beatles version. It has more energy, which is the point of a song like this, and John does a better job singing (even though it doesn't reach Twist and Shout heights here I love the way he sings Rock n Roll songs so much)

I prefer the Beatles' version. It is rougher and more powerful. But I also like the typical sound of the Beach Boys.
Let me add this from google search: Quote:

The Beatles version but with the Beach Boys backing harmonies (you can do this by playing them both at the same time.

I love The Beach Boys, but this isn’t their finest hour imho. Chuck’s original is great – if Johnnie Johnson could be transferred to The Beatles’ version, we’d have absolute perfection. |

Thanks for giving us those dates, as it puts the Beach Boys version into the context of their long slow decline from 1967's Hereos & Villains imo. So I also agree with you, Marie and ribbons. (*googles Johnnie Johnson*)

After those links being broken for, like, 5 years or more, I finally got around to fixing them, thanks in large part to the Beatles Youtube site allowing hotlinking.
