i really dig moving pictures. what are the essential albums? i also have hemispheres and farewell to kings but somehow i haven't listened to them yet.

I'd recommend the live album Exit Stage Left. In a lot of ways I think it's my favorite album by them.

Yeah, Exit pretty much takes the best of pre-signals Rush and makes it better.

To be fair, you`ve pretty much got the three essential album as far as most Rush fans are concerned. The only one you`re lacking is "2112" and possibly "Permanent Waves" If you`re into their 1980`s more synth driven style then "Grace Under Pressure" is the pick.

As far as their live albums go, I actually prefer "All The Worlds A Stage" over the Exit live album and it was recored after 2112 and has a lot of their earlier stuff on it.

I have no idea which song is from which album, but what I always liked about Rush is the time signature changes they have in their songs, since these changes keep me wondering about what will happen next.

Rush is a pretty sweet band. Very overlooked imo @ my old high school there was pretty much just this one kid and me who liked them. Moving Pictures is pretty amzing.
