I watched a song of their's on Scuzz, I don't know what it's called but it was set in a high school...I've never disliked a song and singer so much on the first watch.

I absolutely adore the deftones. I've been a fan since I was a kid and first heard Adrenaline. They don't have the most technically skilled strings section of all time, but they redeem themselves by playing very aggressively. Abe's drumming is stellar, and his timing is so strange I often get lost in the drumming when I listen to them. Chino is also one of my favorite vocalists. I've never been able to get into metal, or most hardcore because I can't stand the growling vocals, and I'm into the whisper to scream thing that Chino does so well, so they naturally appeal to me.

I own all their albums, I love them all, although the 2nd half of Saturday Night Wrist is kind of disappointing, I've been expecting a bad album since White Pony came out, and thankfully they're proven me wrong.

I was expecting that self-titled album to be a disappointment because I'd read bad review after bad review and I never thought they'd make anything as perfect as White Pony again. But Deftones was a good effort and it's now my second favourite album of theirs.

Saturday Night Wrist cool but I agree that it does seem to lose something in the second half.

I've never been impressed by them, and honestly don't see what all the fuss is about.

I have, yeah, although I've never got into them properly. I should probably give them another go.

Oh, I really want to see Chino live in some form.

Man, I love The Deftones. I haven't listened to them in awhile, but this thread has inspired me to go dust off my old White Pony album.

I saw them live last year and thought it was a pretty good show. They are not my ideal flavor of music, but I recieve some of their tunes quite favorably. I like the side project the lead singer has going dubed Team Sleep, on their myspace page there is a really great song called 'am formant'.
