Default Is There a Ramones of Metal?

And by that I mean a metal band or even just album that strips metal down to its most necessary and important components in a way that that defines what metal is in a way that the Ramones stripped down rock and roll and defined what rock and roll is in its most pure form?

Venom kinda did but I think they weren't a good enough band to realize this idea. They were a band who exemplified the idea of the Ramones without being good enough to exemplify the promise of the Ramones. I think if metal had a Ramones it would be in Norwegian black metal, but unfortunately I'm not really a fan of Darkthrone or Mayhem to appreciate if they qualify. The only album by these bands to connect with me in a real way is Mayhem's Live in Leipzig and it is in fact the one metal album I can think of that would qualify as "metal's Ramones album".

What say ye?

They don't call them Metallica for nothing.

Jk. It's actually Vivaldi.

Jokes aside Metallica have a legit claim to that title with their first album. It's the most pure metal for metal's sake album ever made and has that innocence of a Ramones record. So yeah I'd agree. "Hit the Lights" is almost a metal Ramones song tb-****ing-honest. It's everything that was metal up to that point with all the unfiltered joy of being metal that the Ramones had for rock so yeah absolutely. And then you have "The Four Horsemen" which was everything that metal was building to, "Jump in the Fire" which was the most fun metal riff song ever recorded at the time which was pure Ramones, and that's just for starters. So yeah I'd say Kill Em All legit has claim to being metal's Ramones record.

I mean that point where Metallica switch riffs in "Four Horsemen" and go "Time, taking a toll on you," is the most metal thing of ever in a way that's the most punk thing the Ramones ever did in their own songs. There's a reason I'm willing to call Kill Em All possibly the greatest metal album of all time.

AC/DC are more of a blues rock band on steroids than a metal band. Obviously it's arguable if that's the ****ing point but I still see them as a rock band rather than a metal band.

No ****ing way. Get the **** out of here with that bull****.

I knew you’d say AC/DC aren’t metal.

I disagree strongly.

Bruh do you not get the innocence of Metallica's first album? I think there's an entire world you need to discover with that ****. Metallica's first album is one of the most pure musical statements there is.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.
