foo fighters are as somebody once said, "mediocre". however, QOTSA are an amazing band according to moi and his involvement means hes in my good books. plus, his drumming with nirvana was cool.

Dave Grohl - Drummer/Vocalist/Guitarist?

Ok, someone asked me this the other day and I still cant figure out what I'd choose... Was Dave Grohl better as a drummer in Nirvana and QOTSA or as guitarist/vocalist in the Foos?

I think he was/is awesome in both, very multi-talented, which is a sign of a true musician. Whatcha think ?

i've seen dave's body of work so far, but i have to say he's most known as vocalist/guitarist for the foos'. dont get me wrong, i know the importance that he has had in nirvana and the QotSA, but most music listeners tend to identify most with lead singers. i dunno if that's rite or not, but that's how i see it.

I think he is good at all three...but you left one talent out...He is a great songwriter...did ya know that that song My Hero was written for Kurt Cobain?
he is very cool.
and he was also a part of one of the most influential bands of the 90's.

lol, obviously.
I'd say he's a better vocalist/guitarist because not a lot of people have enough talent to concentrate on vocals and play lead guitar at the same time. However, I think he's an excellent drummer as well. I heard he can handle himself on a bass too.

I'd say his drumming is landmark. He's singing/guitar work is subpar to his drumming. I mean, the best song he has is everlong. Most of the others, they'll be forgotten.

drummer nirvana

i agree that he was good at both, but he really came into his own as a lead vocalist for foo fighters. while he was great in nivana, he always took a back seat to kurt. i think that he needed the pressure of being a lead singer to realize what he was actually capable of.
