Not really. It has a lot of metal in it but it almost never crosses the line from experimental hardcore whatever. I think they're as metal as Black Sabbath but the different time periods have completely different context that matters.

if you're talking about full albums I guess that's kinda true, somewhat, but they have an immensely vast amount of strictly metal tracks.

I'm talking about the band's career and approach to music as a whole. They make some metal but they're not a metal band.
