Godsmack VS. Staind
What band do you think is more talented? I have to go with Staind.
Staind are such better song writers and musicians IMO. I also prefer Aaron's voice over Sully's. Godsmack's songs sound all the same to me. I liked Godsmack when they were starting out, but now I've lost interest in them. I also heard Godsmack unplugged and wasn't too impressed with them. I prefer Staind unplugged over Godsmack. Plus, Aaron does a good cover of "Black" by Peal Jam. |
i don't listen to either of them..
but i would definately have to go with Staind. IMO he's talented and i'd rather hear him than Godsmack. i never really liked them too much. |
I like Godsmack better.. Stain'd are boring IMO.
|
i'm gonna hafta go with staind. i like his voice better, and i just connect more with the lyrics. godsmack, i dunno, they just kind of seem to not have alot of variation.
|
I find Staind's lyrics very deep, on the same wave length as Alice In Chains. RIP Layne.
|
Both are overhyped. But... if I had to pick one it would be the old Godsmack.
|
Staing is better than godsmack, their singing and lyrics and songs are just...better.
|
STAIND by far but Godsmack is good too kuz nuthin is worse with loud ripping guitar n bass n even singinim seein Godsmack in november i think with metallica so i got to get in the mood
|
those of you criticizing godsmack for being the same really need to listen to staind some more. all aaron lewis used to sing about is how much his life sucks in damn near every song. now all he sings about is how suddenly his life is great and he can love himself again. no kidding, that tends to happen when you earn millions and millions a year. and his lyrics aren't that deep, the deepest lyrics for any song he sings is Black and thats not even his song, its eddie vedder's. if you want deep lyrics, go with someone who could actually write good lyrics and listen to pearl jam. and i've also seen both bands in concert, staind is a snooze and godsmack puts on a great show and has great music and sully is one of the better front men going. lastly, metallica is the best band in the world, they would only want the next best traveling with them for they're tour, funny they picked godsmack over staind.
|
Godsmack is by far better! I don't care what any of you bastards say! AHH! GODSMACK BEATS STAINED!! 14 SHADES OF ANUS SUCKS! LMFAO! wahoo for godsmack!
|
metallica is indeed the best bands ever. though st anger......not their best move.ride the lightning, and justice for all, master of puppets...these are albums worthy of worship. funny how after twenty years of drinking and smoking and probably all kinds of drugs in his earlier days has changed hetfields voice? still awsome though. saw them live earlier this year. best show. the art of concerts has been lost. not many bands have the good ol' fireworks etc. but the "old schoiol" boys are still at it. kirk is still one of the best guitarists going round

Come on. Staind has such a wide variety of sounds. Raw and Mudshovel from Dysfunction to Fill Me Up and Zoey Jane on 14 Shades of Grey. Compare them, and tell me how all their songs sound the same.
Godsmack is great too, but their songs do get redundent. They are an amazing concert though. |
while i personally like godsmack better, i would still have to say that staind is more talented.

Staind i reckon, i like Godsmacks riffs and stuff but evrysong is pretty much the same except voodoo...that is a wierd wierd song lol
|
I think staind are better, cause ive actually heard of them
|
I love Staind but I think I am gonna have to go with godsmack. Staind does have awesome lyrics but I think godsmack does too. I love both the bands but Godsmack is my choice. :ar_15s:

Pearljam rock. I saw staind in concert last fall, and i was extrememly impressed, i thought they were great live, and ive never seen godsmack live, so i cant speak there, BUT, i never really liked the music. Voodoo was a good song though... You cant really say any band is the best in the world, and on that note, staind has gotten softer, and they probobly want someone alittle more where they are, i dont think its so much about talent. |
I'm not a huge Godsmack fan, so I'm a bit bias on this topic. Actually, I'm very bias on this topic, because I really, really don't like Godsmack. Staind is not my favorite, but I like them. You can't say that bands don't have deep or meaningful lyrics, because the lyrics may mean something different to different people.
I remember watching something on the History Channel, I believe, and I think it was on Jasper Johns, one of the most famous modern artists. He created his peices with no real ties to experiences in his life, only to make the viewer think. He didn't believe that the artist should "tell" the viewer how to interpret his art. That's how I feel about music; it all speaks to us in different ways, so no flaming lyrics of bands whom I bet you've never sat down and talked to about their music. We don't know what was going on in their heads as they were penning the lines, so who are we to interpret what they were thinking? It can only affect us... |
Both are white trash psuedo heavy rock bands with generic riffing and bad singers. So I guess they tie.

I read the title of this thread Godstain vs Smack for some reason
|
I was under the impression that both of these bands died four years ago or something...
In any case, Staind loses for associating themselves with Limp Bizkit, and Godsmack loses for... being Godsmack. |

Pearl Jam still have a following even today. Sad but true |

If youve ever seen the acoustic version of "outside" with aaron lewis and fred durst, fred didnt need to be there, he butchers the chorus |

woah, i never said it was bad, its one of my all time favorite live performances, all im saying is, fred didnt need to be all like "im feeling those lighters, this is the real motherfu**** deal yall" and the rest of his doofy hand signals, aaron was awsome
|
Staind did an interview on the local alternative station here in Atlanta.
I listened while in the shower, and I swear, it was the only time on radio that there was a complete silence, for like 5 minutes straight. Even the DJs joked that he was the most boring guy that they ever interviewed. I kid you not when I say : It was dead silent |
while staind imo are far more talented then godsmack, but when it come down to who i want to listen to.............GODSMACK by far they just **** **** up and make me wanna jam out
|
Staind are from worcester, may you never visit that barrens wasteland. It was a town regarded as the best mosh pit bands had seen anywhere. That should let you better understand the mental capacity you're dealing with.
I once got directions to a dinner in worcester via strip clubs. "Ok you take a left at hurricane betty's, then go two streets up and go right at Lamp Lighters II" (I don't know if they were real directions but im sure I could hunt the kid down who gave them to me if I wanted.) |
Shouldn't this thread be, which band has the least talent?
|
keep it short n sweet, staind
|
Neither one is too great, but Godsmack has good songs.
|
I wont debate over who is better...cause I think of them in different terms..
See music is a healing factor for me..and I use different styles..artists..genre's to help me get through things..to help me associate my pain, my love, my feelings with reality..yuck..emo..anyways... I like Staind..but Aaron Lewis whines so goddamn much that you would wonder if he ever is happy with anything..and that kinda turns me off from them...but musically..I like the guitar..I like acoustic Staind..I think its talents..but they just covered Sober by Tool and I almost cried..it sucked so bad... GodSmack it cool cause its kinda grungy..kinda..heavy..kinda arena rock..and they put on an AWESOME show! |
It all pretty much sucks, but Godsmack can fit solos in here and there which make them slightly more interesting.
|
I don't think many people in this thread have heard Godsmack's album 'The Other Side' - especially those saying that all their songs sound the same.
It's an acoustic album, and Voices is actually QUITE a good song. |
Please stop bumping threads about terrible grungy nu-metal.
Thank you, Ian |
I don't particularly care for either but I hate Godsmack as much as I hate pearl jam. so staind wins by default.
