https://media1.tenor.com/images/782b...itemid=7549364 Finally! At ****ing last! One of my albums comes up! You know what to do... |
Heard it too many god damn times, and I like Priest better anyway. So, like, 10/10 instead of 11.

I like the album, but the middle section ("Flash of the Blade", "the Duellists", "Back in the Village") drags a bit. Most of the other tracks are very good, especially "2 Minutes to Midnight" and "Powerslave", so it's an 8/10 for me. If only those three middle tracks were a bit better, this album could have been one of my favorite Iron Maiden albums.

You didn't mention "Rime of the Ancient Mariner"!!!

10/10.
Perfect metal album. |
I didn't mention that song because I like it but also find it a little bit too long. It's good though. Definitely pushes the album towards classic status rather than away from.

Obviously I love this album. One of the "golden age" Maiden albums, and one of the best. Sure, it has weak tracks - did we really need a return to the Village, and to me, "The Duellist" and "Flash of the Blade", though different songs, kind of cover the same ground. But all that fades under the Big Four - "Aces High", "Two Minutes to Midnight", "Powerslave" and of course "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" - which kick off the album in classic style and also close it the same way.
An ambitious album which realises all its goals, keeps everyone happy and crowns the pinnacle of Maiden's career. Not a slide into mediocrity after this by any means, but for me the Holy Trinity remains The Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind and this one. 10/10 |
"The Number of the Beast" is still the most fun Maiden song ever.

Saw them perform a lot of songs off this album when I saw them years ago. Great album. Iron Maiden also have a fantastic stage presence when they perform. 10/10
