My half-joke was not appreciated.

I'm not sure what to answer the original question with. I'm guessing "yes". I like similar music, but not this. "Not getting it" isn't the problem. I just think this album is dull.

I'm sure no one would be the least bit surprised that I'm not impressed with it, so go ahead and complain that I just don't get it and that I'm gay and whatever.

Basically, I find these songs really boring and unimaginative. Black Sabbath and Cathedral did all of this 10-30 years earlier and much better too. This album is largely one note. Dip into any random moment on the album and it's going to sound identical to almost any other moment on the album. That's an exaggeration, but I do think this album is repetitive and uninteresting.

The fact that the album is from 2000 makes it really unimpressive. If they spear headed this kind of music, at least then I could understand it being so underdeveloped. Take away the grimey production and it's just a bunch of really dull metal tunes with nothing much going for them.

2/10
I imagine you have a really pissant sound system at half volume so you couldn't possibly appreciate such a monster at decibels enough to crumble your entire block. This really brings home to me that you simply don't get metal at a primal level. This **** is so heavy and loud and raw that entire civilizations can not handle the tremors.

I put on my headphones on this one. Dialed down the volume halfway through because I decided it wasn't likely going to change my mind at that point.

This music is basic. Anyone could say the same about anything. Don't like pouring citric acid into your eyes? You don't get it.

why is it so hard to admit you don’t get something

i’ll be the first to admit i don’t get the talking heads

if something is universally acclaimed to a certain degree you should have the balls to accept that maybe it’s you who is missing something.

I treat everything the same no matter if it's acclaimed or not. If I don't like it, I'll say why. If you can't tell me what I'm supposed to "get" about this album, then what's the point?
What difference does it make if I'm saying "I don't get it" or "I don't like it".

It's not about being complex. It's about doing Sabbath riffs in a way that shatters skyscrapers. If you're looking for complexity or subtlety then you're doing it wrong. This **** is about raw heaviness. That is the absolute #1 most important part and if you're not getting that then not only are you not getting Electric Wizard then you're probably not getting doom metal.

If you can't listen to basic music then you're no better than a prog nerd.

Dude, I literally said in my OP that Cathedral is better. They're Sabbath Derrived doom metal, but with much better songs than this. And not exactly complex. I only said they are basic because there's not a lot to "get" in that sense. Maybe in another, but that's where someone should say what instead of just getting mad at me for not getting "it". Whatever it is.

I don't see how this is immune to criticism just because it's got a crazy guitar sound.

You can not understand something and still enjoy the music.
