Why most people hate Creed?

Why are they so hated band? Why people think their music sucks?

OccultHawk 03-10-2018 08:32 AM

They’re Jesus freak losers.

grindy 03-10-2018 09:02 AM

Christians suck.
The music is not better or worse than other lame-ass rock. (e.g. Nickelback, Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin)

I might be slightly trolling.

Christians suck and Satanists in metal don't suck?

Frownland 03-10-2018 09:59 AM

Who said that? Have you been talking to Christians?

Satanists, especially theistic satanists, are pretty silly, but I guess I still dislike Christianity much more. Not that there isn't a lot of great religious music. Obviously not Creed though.

Because their music sucks.

Nobody believes in them.

The Batlord 03-10-2018 06:07 PM

Because Creed makes Nickelback sound like Malcolm X.

Just because Led Zeppelin wrote "Stairway to Heaven" that doesn't make them a Christian Rock band.

Maajo 03-10-2018 08:35 PM

A. They're preachy.
B. They're popular.
C. They're part of a sub-genre that is generally considered to be one of the worst, and one that oversaturated airwaves for the better part of 1999-2010.

I don't actually hate Creed, their guitarist is pretty damn good actually IMO but they're just so cheesy like a lot of late 90s rock bands. Who didn't make fun of Scott Stapp(The Creed Guy, as he was known in our circle)'s voice back in the day?

Yup.

I just think their music is unusually, madly, execssively boring. Same with Nickelback. I dislike Nickelback a lot more than Creed since their "singer" is a worse experience to listen to. Both bands are awful and it's no wonder so many dismiss them. I'm sure they've got capable musicians in both bands, but they choose to use their chops in the worst way possible. There were a lot of similar bands around 2000 that were equally terrible, like Puddle of Mud, but Creed and Nickelback were inescapable and that's why they're so hated.

OccultHawk 03-11-2018 04:27 AM

Creed is so bad that liking them makes you a failure.

I think when you get to bands like Creed things start becoming derivative. Kudos to Chula mentioning the band King's X ... and not Led Zeppelin. There is something about the song (maybe the melody at some point) that reminds me of Vaseline by STP, and the singer does that Eddie Vedder yalp when he sings the chorus. It like combination of King's X (as CV mentioned), STP, Pearl Jam, and even Collective Soul in there too near the end of the song. Probably a few other band comparisons there too if only they came to mind. But all of that doesn't mean much, cause that is just the natural progression of music where a band draws from previous bands that came before them. In the end it just comes down to whether you like them or not.

It's not the worst out there. If you like, then like them. Don't let anyone upset your apple cart.

I guess being a Led Zeppelin fan should make you an expert on wannabee bands, and bands that steal material from other bands?
