The first time I listened to that song by them, it made my week. To this day, I try to practice my singing by singing this song.

I've asked once, and I'll ask again. Why do you guys like so much about Slipknot? Maybe I'll learn something.

1. The lead singer, Corey Taylor, has an awesome voice. Try singing a song that he sings.

2. I don't really care so much about this but some do - the drummer is awesome.

3. The songs don't make a whole lot of sense but the lyrics still have power to them. "I've gotta say what I've gotta say, and then I swear I'll go away, but I can't promise you'll enjoy the noise." - phrase from Slipknot song.

That's about it.

High energy, decent musicians, and it gets people doing this:

So basically, "I'm going to speak my mind whether you like it or not." Deep.

Say what you want to, but the band can be deep, like in the song "Dead Memories", and they also have a lot of attitude.

I'm sure they're about as deep as fifty million other bands whose fans aren't so insecure that they feel the need to defend their favorite bands with sketchy arguments.

Deep lyrics with long metaphors won't automatically make a song good. Goo Goo Dolls' "Name" had lyrics reading "a tired song is playing on a tired radio", and they spoke to me in a much better way than your nu metal stuff. Take into consideration that Shine On You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd became one of the most important songs in the history of rock, and not a single word was sung until 7:36. I don't view the song lyrics posted in this thread as genius, so I don't see why they make Slipknot "the most tr00 band ever" as some people would say.
