Doom/stoner album duel:Dopethrone or Dopesmoker?

For me Dopethrone all the way. Funeranopolis alone is better than whole Dopesmoker.

Actually a great comparison for once.

Dopesmoker is a 15/10 perfect record. Just perfect atmosphere through the whole thing and it never ceases with the jawdroppingly dope riffs.

Dopethrone is also a 15/10 perfect record, but it's also fuzzier and heavier, plus I'm virtually always in the mood to listen to it. It gets the edge, but just barely.

Dopethrone is what got me into Electric Wizard, but I actually don't think it's one of their best albums. Dopesmoker likewise is the album that got me into Sleep and it's by far their best album. For that reason, I'm voting Dopesmoker. If it had been up against Come My Fanatics…, We Live, or Witchcult Today it might be a different story.

Dopethrone is really great, but Dopesmoker is a next level experience

According to lyrical themes I have to say Dopethrone is a bit 'Satanic' album, while Dopesmoker is not at all.

But both of them have ten letters in their title. Coincidence?

Does anyone listen to either band for the lyrics?

Electric Wizard's drug addled Lovecraft shtick does go fantastically with the music though.

So does like...lyrics about high monks or something.

Going with Dopesmoker. Dopethrone is a hell of an album though. Two of the best things to happen to doom metal.

Gotta be Dopethrone, Dopesmoker just drones on a bit too long for my taste and the riffs are just so must tastier on Dopethrone.
