Slayer calling it quits with final 2018 tour
|
Good. Slayer without Lombardo is a farce.
|
I wonder what size venues they’ll play.
|
Rush and now Slayer.
When will this torment end. |
The last two albums were pretty terrible. Probably the right decision. Then in ten years or so they can get back together and hit the road for the SLAYER RISES FROM THE PITS OF HELL TOUR!
Condolences, Batty. At least you might get to see Kesha live yet, if they lift that injunction. :D |
If Rush isn't having fun while they're playing, I wouldn't want to see them.

I've seen them eleven times

Eleven is a fake number.

You guys are triggering me.
Only seen em twice in my life. |
Fitting user name for the OP.
The dusk of an era. I've seen them once or twice. At Ozzfest 1999, we had sky box seats over the crowd, and as we watched the pit while Slayer was on, my GF (at the time) said she wanted to be in it. So, we walked down to the edge of it, and I picked her up and held her out just far enough to technically "Be in it", then pulled her back in as she giggled with delight and we went back to our sky box. |

I’ve never seen slayer.

Good.

Saw them three times. Twice at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago in '87 and '88.
And again in 1991 for Clash of the Titans tour in Omaha. I'm debating whether I should see them on this final tour? Not sure how I'll feel about not seeing Jeff and Dave on stage though. That'll be weird. |

Can't wait for them to release the dates I need to see them before they're gone.
|
I am kinda curious what they sound like with Gary Holt tbh.

It also dawned on me the last time I saw Slayer live, Kerry had hair and Tom was skinny. |
Good. Slayer without Hanneman is a farce.
|
I think he's great but he's expendable tbh.

Hanneman has a bit more flavour in his solos but ja they're very similar.
|
I'm assuming the uniform styles are entirely intentional. It would be weird to hear Kerry King going crazy on "Angel of Death" and then in comes John Petrucci.

King's solos are average with a few of them being good. Hanneman's solos are always good if not great.
Sort of like on Rust In Peace how Mustaine's solos are always amazing while Marty Friendman's solos are good at best. |

I never thought Friedman's solos fit the music. He uses too much melody and it always sounds out of place.
|
I don't like Friedmans solo records, but he was an excellent fit for Megadeth imo. The solo in Tornado of Souls is immortal. My favorite lead guitarist for Megadeth was probably Chris Poland. His style just fit really interestingly on the two albums he played on (The System Has Failed and Peace Sells). Poland plays with all these subtle bends and adds a lot of tonal tension in his melodies, making it sound quite jazzy at times.
I think most of the band's lead guitarists have been interesting. Chris Broderick and Glen Drover somewhat excepted. |

Mustaine's ending solo in "Five Magics" is fantastic. Friedman belongs in ****ing nightwish or whatever.
Other bands do the tasteful metal solos much better, like Heathen. |
I'll add it to the list of dumbass opinions that you'll eventually learn to reverse.
