Default Is the album "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" heavy metal?

For me SBS is too unique, sophisticated and musically diverse album to be considered plain heavy metal.
It's something else more than metal.

It's a heavy metal record with hints of progressive rock

Yeah definitely prog. rock + trad. doom metal. They went way too far with the prog. elements for my taste. The aggression is wholly lacking on that album, and the darker parts feel so..insincere.

Album came out in 1973. About 15-20 years removed from all of the stupid metal "sub-genres".

Black
Goth
Doom
Gloom
Thrash
Industrial
Power
Christian
Death
Death-doom
Death-core
Pornogrind
Goregrind
Metal-core
etc. Ad infinitum

And the stupidest of all?

Death 'n' roll

SBS is just plain heavy metal with some sprinkles of Prog.

Lol @ Christian.

But yes unfortunately genres continue to expand and progress even after you turn 25, no matter how scary and weird that can be.

lmao Black Sabbath's first song is doom metal. From the beginning of the genre there were sub-genres.
