In my opinion, what people describe as djent is usually some combination of technical death metal and sludge metal, and sometimes groove metal. You batty like the groove metal side, and I like the suped-up proggy/post-metal kind.

I'm no expert on djent, but I just don't care for the Meshuggah-lite bands that try to throw in some prog to feel like they're more than just boring ****.

One of two on the album. Progressive/power fans will enjoy this. Hell, just riff fans will enjoy this. Loooooove these guys. Barriers and Passages is a perfect evening driving record. Still got a shirt from a 2007 tour lying around somewhere. Haven't heard the newest one, thanks for the heads up.
