If they're going to be that busy slaughtering nuns, I don't think they're going to be too bothered about exactly which side of the s the apostrophe goes.

You really gotta do a better job of picking single albums to get a feel for a band.
It was for Metal Month, and I did it to impress you.

Then why didn't you ask which album to check out? We could have told you in two seconds.

You were too busy fapping and I thought it socially awkward to disturb you.

NunSlaughter - Hells Unholy Fire

This definitely leans to the more grimy side of death metal, but not exactly the most complex. There are 18 tracks on the album and they tend towards a sort of punkish efficiency. Deliver a quick blast of energy, then exit before it gets boring. The problem is that there's precious little in way of catchy riffs or anything else noteworthy on the musical side of things. It doesn't help that the mixing is pretty bad. The cartoony, frankly silly vocals are louder than anything else and the guitars are sadly rather quiet. This really robs the album of some of the impact it could have had, but really, the vocalist brings this down hard for me. Of course I can't take him seriously - death metal vocals are inherently daft - but I could at least have played along if he was more powerful or theatrically convincing. He's just amateur and sounds like a 15 year old boy.

In all fairness, I think this was an early album for the band. Death metal bands often have pretty unimpressive beginnings.

3/10. A few moments of mid-tempo chugging was all I really liked here. It's just a tedious mess.

This band started in the late 80s but only released their debut (this) in 2000, so I imagine this was their very established sound. Honestly I think this is entirely for fans of early Bathory and Hellhammer rather than Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse though. Luckily I'm a fan of Bathory and Hellhammer so this band is right up my alley.

Get on it. You just have to rip it off fast like a band aid.
