Classic Simpsons, umm... Mr Brannigan sir

What if the song Black Sabbath was about an alien encounter instead of that tripping on acid "**** that guy looks like Satan" stuff?

No. No it's bad.

Meh. It's not atrocious, but the only reason it got so popular is A.) Guitar Hero, B.) it's their ultimate stereotype song for power metal plebs, and C.) that album just so happened to come out when DragonForce's hype was reaching its highest point.

This song is actually pretty decent. It's not as obnoxious as a lot of their other **** and has at least a little personality. You could almost imagine that they know how to write songs.

And this is more or less the first archetype for that one song they always write ten times and then call it an album, but it's actually got a bit of edge to it (as far as power metal ever has edge) and doesn't have that soulless polish that helps to ruin so much of their ****.

And there you go. Two DragonForce songs I kinda like.

You need a pretty good imagination, though.

It has more stuff going on I guess. It goes places rather than just a bunch of solos dressed up as a song. I'm not saying it's great or anything, but I can listen to it without cringing and the vocals are actually pretty strong.

Hmm...I'd have to pick three:

3. 2 Minutes To Midnight (1984)--Iron Maiden

2. Victim Of Changes (1976)--Judas Priest

1. War Pigs (1970)-- Black Sabbath

It should be said that I'm not a big fan of the label "heavy metal". However, I think the most CREDIBLE bands of the genre are from the UK without question.

For the most part, most American bands completely miss the mark artistically when it comes to "metal" music, then and now. Regardless, I prefer to call it ...HARD ROCK! Interesting thread. ...
