Favorite song on Deep Purple album Machine Head?
Lazy for me, Jon Lord dominated in that tune.
|
Never listen to it because of Made in Japan.
|
Highway Star by a landslide.

space truckin because bruce campbell

I really can't decide cause every song is fire. I guess "Highway Star", "Lazy", and "Space Truckin'" all have a claim.

"Lazy" is the best.

Have you seen the VH1 classic albums series on the making of the album? The story behind Smoke on the Water is totally true. The band had to resort to a run down hotel with a mobile unit and recording in hallways. After each take they'd have to climb out a 2nd story window and walk across the roof to get to the truck to listen to the take.
It's amazing the album came out as great as it did. I wonder how different it would have come out if the Casino hadn't burned down. |
"Highway Star". Every time I hear that guitar work, I hump the carpet.
|
I'm with Texas Boy & Janszoon on this one.
"Lazy" was the song that got me interested in Deep Purple back in the 70's. |
I went for 'Lazy' as it's undoubtedly the most interesting, diverse track on the album. But I am surprised that 'Maybe I'm a Leo' didn't get a single vote. Dat riff yo.
|
My fav thing about "Lazy" is that there are no vocals until exactly 4:20 into the song.
|
It was hard to pick but I picked the first song "SMOKE ON THE WATER"
In reality I LOVE THEM ALL!!! |
Highway Star is my favorite by far, perfect song to drive fast on the highway too! Smoke on the Water is a solid runner up though.
