Hi there! I'm going to make this quick and simple. I am here to yell about the musical genius of Faith No More and Mr Bungles one and only Mike Patton. Please feel free to add something so I can talk about this guy some more. Thanks!

Faith No More is meh, it pains me to say that even Mr. Bungle isn't as good as I remember from my teenage obsession. Tomahawk is boring as hell.
Fantomas is pretty damn good though.
I like Patton best when he's working with John Zorn. Astronome and Six Litanies For Heliogabalus are amazing.
Oh and I also like his Mondo Cane project.

He's painfully overrated.

Seriously? I think he's more underrated. People don't see the quality that others see in him. Look at all his abilities. One minute he can sing beautifully, changing from a falsetto to a his amazing soprano. Then it can swing out of control and he can change it to a chaotic masterpiece.

It's mostly a tiresome gimmick.

Faith No More is a big fat meh for me, always has been since I first listened to them. Mr. Bungle's debut was alright, but that's about it. That's pretty much all I've heard of his work though.

Most of his credibility comes from his work with Zorn.

Zorn does too much.

He does, but he still manages to be mostly decent to good.

In an exploration inside Patton's solo work I found a soundtrack he did for a film called "A Perfect Place." I can't find John Zorn and Mike Patton on Spotify.

Love Patton. Dude has chops to spare and uses them across a broad spectrum of genres.

Careful. He also reps Yngwie Malmsteen and Dishwalla.

Not to sound cliche, but "The Real Thing". That LP really stood out when it first broke.

Not cliche at all! The Real Thing really introduced me. Falling To Pieces and Zombie Eaters are my favorites on there. I also like their War Pigs cover. Thanks for the compliment! @elphenor I get what you mean since I get your perspective but I really wouldn't call that tone bland. It's too gritty.

This is one of the best things Patton has ever done:

FNM is my favorite band. Also love Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk, Lovage, General Patton vs the X-ecutioners, Moonchild Trio, Hemophiliac, the soundtracks to A Perfect Place/Crank/Solitude of Prime Numbers/A Place Beyond the Pines, Peeping Tom, Pranzo Oltranzista, some cool stuff on Adult Themes for the Voice, Irony is a Dead Scene by the Dillinger Escape Plan, Mondo Cane, Maldoror is alright but definitely nothing special considering those involved, each Zorn collab is great, Laborintus II is far from a Patton album but still nice, Romances from Kaada/Patton is fantastic and definitely a standout for me, the newer one Bacteria Cult us great too, I haven't been too acquainted with tetema or Nevermen just yet but found them both enjoyable after multiple listens, Firecracker is a decent movie, and he does some astounding vocal work in I Am Legend and the game Left 4 Dead

He's my favorite musician and I'll always have his body of work committed to memory since I've at least liked all of it.

Decades removed, we're not different at all.

Except Jimmy Page is one of the greatest musical geniuses to ever walk the planet.

Page and Patton are at about the same level of musical genius imo.

I'm his biggest fan

You have got to be kidding me. Page revolutionized rock'n'roll. He has so many brilliant riffs. Hooks that are practically supernatural in their power. So many solos are absolutely perfectly carved out. The mysticism the, the lushness, the hypnotic texture, the folkish beauty. When Page took the stage the audience knew they were in the presence of a God. His power was astonishing.

I have to say I don't think you understand the incredible phenomenon that is Led Zeppelin.

I have to say that you take this forum too seriously.
