Is Green Day a band for kids and not for adults?

Should adult rock fans take this band seriously or not?
I always find their music and lyrics kiddish and I think GD is only a good band for kids up to 15 years old.

Frownland 01-25-2017 09:13 AM

Bad taste in music knows no age limits.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 01-25-2017 09:19 AM

pop punk is always kiddish, but when done right it's so good that it doesn't matter.

green day stink though.

First couple Green Day albums are good for what they are. They also have a strong nostalgic quality for me as I was 10-11 or so when I heard "Brain Stew" and "Basket Case" - pretty close to the first non-parent exposed music I heard. That said, they pretty much belong to that age.

The genre done right:

Somewhere in the middle - for teenagers maybe?

Their music is simplistic and they lyrically tend to be very angsty (is that the word?) a bit... Their demographic tends to be teenagers, so say what you will I guess.

Are we still talking about Greenday, or the music you listen to?

If you listen to Sick Puppies and Slipknot it's pretty shocking that you wouldn't listen to Linkin Park tbh.

It comes with your territory. Kind of like how people assume I like Yoko Ono.

I never really could get into them. They have a few songs here and there I like but for the most part I can live without them.

Two Virgins is okay but she's horrible otherwise.

I haven't listened to any Yoko Ono yet. Apparently that one Plastic Ono Band album or whatever with the opposite cover of that one Lennon album is proto-No Wave though iirc.

I want him to say 16 so bad.

The Batlord 01-25-2017 09:12 PM

Perv.

JiggleMonster 01-25-2017 09:14 PM

Dammit. Now you know.

She is an uncharmingly terrible singer.

JiggleMonster 01-25-2017 09:27 PM

I honestly like how bad it is...If that makes sense.

There are people who are way better at being terrible than she is.

JiggleMonster 01-25-2017 09:40 PM

I would rather punch myself in the dick than listen to that all the way through.

Frownland 01-25-2017 09:47 PM

I won't judge what you're into but that doesn't sound like a very fun fetish.

JiggleMonster 01-25-2017 09:56 PM

It certainly gets old.

My 7 year old cousin digs Know Your Enemy quite a bit.
