Grindcore and Powerviolence You Should Know Because it Rules
I wanted to do it anyway. This is probably the last one covering my most familiar genres. Now I'll just run the well dry for bands.
Bring it in 2016 Gendo Ikari - Unit 1 What a debut this is, honestly the best grind I've heard all year, even though I hadn't really heard much. But it also doubles as some of the best just ever. Grindcore is another style like black metal, where the most basic and generic offerings are still typically good. So yes, this isn't any mind blowing avant grind, but face cutting straight up grindcore. But here, it is so so so so so so good. Flawless in fact. The playing is still very tight and proficient, and the sound quality is perfect, making it a more of a memorable release. It shreds start to finish in a Gridlink way, but heavier execution. Seriously man. I had to contact the band just to tell them how good this was. Please don't stop. |

Wadge - Grindcore Lu'au Grindcore Lu'au | Grindcore Karaoke Wadge have been one of my favorites for a long time and I never hesitate to rep this album because it's hella cool. They're a smashing cybergrind band, very heavy and percussive and in your face while still playing fairly original sounding stuff. It has hard hitting electro delivery and the sporadic elements of surf/tropical music, since that's like what they're all about |

Use to be much more into grindcore in high school and college, but I still keep some greats around (Nasum, Gridlink, Gadget, Discordance Axis, etc)
For nearly a year (must have been 2007-2008), Cyness - Our Funeral Oration for the Human Race was my favorite record:

Well sometimes there's nothing to say about a band except that they kick hard ass. So listen to this album, some of the best modern grind that rips so mad they should be in jail See above and dedicate your life to extreme Czech music Crushing from a band fronted by the lady from almighty Hatred Surge https://mindless.bandcamp.com/ |

Buckshot Facelift - Elder's Rasp I found this very interesting and entertaining. Clean experimental grindcore with like, post metal and electronic influences maybe. They came from another band called Biolich that sound like a cross between Demilich (obv) and Autechre. |
