I'll be damned, they are. That's literally the only song I like by them. Just assumed brits for some reason.

That's definitely one of the best songs from the 80s though.

IDGAF. The man sang for Rainbow and Black Sabbath, he's earned his British cred and his place in the wave.

But they were both British, and both influenced it. In fact, Black Sabbath was still making music during the wave (coincidentally enough, right around when Dio became the vocalist, for Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules).
Yo, since we're splitting hairs, how come earlier you said Judas Priest wasn't part of the wave? They didn't start making Metal till the mid to late seventies, which is when the wave started, and didn't become massive till the eighties, when the wave hit it's peak. They're well known as being the head of the NWOBHM.

Judas Priest started in the late 60s, and weren't releasing music till 74. The first NWOBHM record was in like 79.

So just because a band started before a movement, they can't be a part of that movement? The Beatles were around before the British Invasion, does that mean that they weren't a huge part of it if not the very catalyst? The Sonics first formed in the fifties, before Garage Rock had truly started, does that mean that they weren't part of the Garage Rock movement? Just as The Beatles started as a Skiffle band before hitting their stride, and The Sonics started off as a much lighter version of what they would become, so did Judas Priest dabble in bluesy Prog before hitting their stride in the NWOBHM.
