Dur.

I think the best entry level screaming is bands who don't scream but have very rough/raw distorted vocals to ease yourself in. Hell, one could even try it in another genre first. i've heard some rough ass blues vocals.

I love death growls. I don't have any pro tips to get into growling: I was predisposed to like the vocal style. I think growls sound bestial, and I like that.

I'm more of a screaming fan, but usually only in small bursts. For example, Roger Waters' banshee screams on Careful With That Axe, Eugene.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

I like black metal screeches way more than death metal growls, but that's just me I guess.

Screams carry way more emotion than stupid growls.

Screams, Shreiks and Shouting/Yelling > Low Growls.

Glad we're on the same page here, team. While on the topic, early Burzum has some of my favourite extreme vocals ever, Varg Vikernes really sounds like a deranged murderer (lol) on some of those tracks.

I was wondering if you guys had any entry level screaming tracks or any methods to get used to the style. I was also interested if anyone is able to share their personal experience of how they stopped worrying and learned to love the growl.
I'm not a fan of that style of singing either, but it's not as if I don't like any metal with those sorts of vocals. However, I'd like it better if there were more melodic singing.

At any rate, one thing that I found helped me get into those sorts of vocals more was when that wasn't the only style of singing--when it was just one of many tools in a vocalist's arsenal.

For example, I like Alarum a lot, including their vocals:

(The audio quality on that upload sounds kind of like a cassette left in someone's car for too long, but that's the only upload I see of that track)
