It's not supposed to be an adaptation of War and Peace.

I coincidentally started listening to SYL like 3 days ago. It's wonderful.

I don't know if I'd say 10/10, since the first half is definitely better than the second, but 8/10 at least is fine.

I can deal with an 8 but it's still a 10.

I remember finding the growling really alienating when I was younger. In primary school, a friend had an older brother who was always in his dark room, listening to death metal. I used to think he was kind of scary (he was actually a total dweeb, but I was 6-8 years old...). Later growling/etc. just annoyed me but I got over it with time. I think Arch Enemy was the band that won me over, since I just loved their guitar riffs (still do). Maybe Overkill and Motörhead helped ease me into it, since those bands have sort of rough vocals? Can't say for sure.

These days I'm totally accustomed to it. I'd say I find it boring more often than not. Most growlers are very repetitive. Some find ways of making things more interesting, but most don't. Too many just sound like Randy Blythe (zzzzz).

Entry level growling/screaming/etc: Death, I guess. It's not too harsh and many seem to like the band when they first get into the more extreme stuff.

The point of the piece is that there is never really "silence". If you watch a performance of 4'33, you will hear many noises in the concert hall. No instruments, of course, but music is not always made with instruments, is it? That said, Cage is a great innovator in classical music. The prepared piano has been used by many modern artists, from Trent Reznor to Aphex Twin.

Also, Screamin' Jay Hawkins was the first heavy vocalist. If you like his vocals, you can get into some death metal vocals.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.
