Bands can't be every decade theyu are a part of. That's just clumping them up in. The general terms are used for bands that came out of or were biggest during another decade. Clumping them with a bunch of others will only cause some serious confusaion. Any website who doesn't follow that rule is only naming people to look cool because these are the same websites that will call Nirvana "punk metal" or Metallica "pop rock."

I meant early Metallica. I should've clarified that.

Other examples: AC/DC, glam metal. Maybe glam rock in small doses.
Johnny Cash: Hard rock
Pink Floyd: Post Punk

It depends. It can be subjective because what if they became well known in my country after releasing UYI in 1991? Their first album from 1987 did not reach my or some other countries? For many people their first album is not as significat as for others etc. I might appreciate their second album more than the first one etc. This might be more meaningful to me etc.

I mean, there is always some kind of need to put people or bands (in this case) into some category/shelf etc. But different people can actually put them into a shelf that you may not agree with. Some things are blurry or subjective, especially if a group was successful in both cases, and it would cope without the first album (got the same popularity with the second/third one etc.).
