I mostly love Slayer for the pure energy and the way everything interlocks rhythmically. Lombardo is pretty fantastic and I feel like Slayer were the first metal band to start taking the drums somewhere interesting. |

Now that I'm aware of that... I don't know your tastes, but I think Slayer are worth a chance for anyone with an appreciation of loud music. If you think they're cheesy, keep in mind that they are not a band that takes themselves very seriously at all. I actually view them as sort of being metal's version of The Ventures or Dick Dale, but instead of songs referencing surfing and hot rods, they reference war and serial killers and whatnot. |
