Well...

I'd be lying if I said that I don't think I have better taste than some on here. Because I think I do. But. Grindy, Frownland, they've both got some sh*t bands that they listen to, even if they don't think so. However. The other side of the coin, I've discovered some cool bands from both of them too. So have an open mind here at least, try not to let those here who really think they have perfect taste, basically run you off of the site. Because I could name plenty that are some of the most elitist, snobby f*ckers of any music forum I have been on, and I'd break their damn nose if I ever met them for going around thinking their sh*t don't stink. People like that are detestable.

Guy here that goes by The Batloard gives me sh*t for liking 30 Seconds To Mars or Soilwork, but I pretty much say f*ck you Batty I don't give a sh*t, because I shouldn't care, listen to whatever moves you or that you connect with. Some will say your list is sh*t. But I say that Trent Reznor alone on that list could probably write a better song than pretty much any of them, and on the other hand a lot would disagree with me because they don't like NIN or Trent Reznor for that matter, oh well, if that's reason enough to not give credit where it's due, so be it for them.

But. Here's my take...

NIN
Tool
Pantera

I can't speak for Frownland, but whenever I'm talking all this snob-talk it's not to be taken 100% seriously. Yeah, I love all this experimental avantgarde whatever stuff, but I love some good pop music as well.
And most of the bands on the guy's list are pretty much okay, I'm sure I've loved about 80% of them at some point in my life. Although I wasn't lying, apart from Swans nothing else there tickles my fancy nowadays.

This is the most pretentious critique of pretentiousness I've ever read.

^ That's the way i see it too.

Although i gotta say, The Pixies are better than every band on that list.

I don't take more than maybe 40 percent of stuff like that here seriously, but there are some people here that are the worst kind of snob when it comes to music snobery.

Well then stop listening to Soilwork. It's not that hard.

That won't happen. I like Soilwork, were one of the first bands I listened to with that type of sound or variant of Metal in general. Our opinions will always be conflicting in regard to them Batty. I think they play better than just average melodic death metal, always will. But depending on the person and what they ask for, I am not sure I'd recommend Soilwork to someone who is just getting to explore the world of Metal. Make sense?

Yes, I would not recommend Soilwork either.

I think that even though these two bands don't exactly have much in common aside from melodic death metal, I'd recommend Children of Bodom over Soilwork to someone setting out to explore all things Metal. But then again, Manowar would be one of the first bands I'd say to check out, probably the first, then would come bands like Converge, so on and so forth.
