SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

First of all: sadcore.

Secondly, since there's already a metal album thread, isn't it just redundant to do the same genres here?

1. Sadcore and Slowcore removed.

2. All metal genres are gone, with the exception of metal genres that were not included in the thread (Hardcore punk, Nu metal, etc.).

But... hardcore punk isn't metal.

I think the metal genres that haven't been done yet should also be removed.
They can still be done in the Metal Survivor thread if the public demands it.
We may also remove punk, since it's another sub-forum, as well as jazz-rock.
Also removed some genres that seem unnecessary, too obscure or just dumb to me.

Alternative rock
Grunge
Post-rock
Shoegaze
Experimental rock
Folk rock
Garage rock
Glam rock
Hard rock
Stoner rock
Math rock
New wave
Progressive rock
Krautrock
Space rock
Psychedelic rock
Psychobilly
Gothic rock
No wave
Noise rock
Rock and roll
Surf rock

It's called "punk", but it's heavily inspired by metal, hence the "hardcore" part.

You don't listen to punk, do you?

This is the heaviest they could get in 1981:

This is what they had in 1991:

And I mean, if you count powerviolence, we've got a whole 'nother world of heavy:

Heavy ≠ metal.

Plenty of hardcore bands have taken influence from metal, but punk and hardcore have influenced metal much more. When punk came around, metal was Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and 70s Judas Priest. Then the punks came along and BOOM! you have Iron Maiden (first two albums, totally), thrash, death metal, etc. All of that evolved because of punk and hardcore. If you hear a metal song played with speed and/or aggression, then dollars to donuts it's because somewhere down the line some yahoo with a mullet in the 80's thought Bad Brains was cool.

So, if you're going to use influence to classify a genre, then most post-70's metal is punk.

Alright, so I'm going to cross-reference grindy's list with mine, and make a few adjustments. The most glaring thing in my eyes is the lack of punk. My personal solution is to only include fights for punk and post-punk, as they are the biggest denominations. Those and everything else will go in the punk section. Jazz rock has become Jazz fusion.
And besides a few genres I chose to include, that's about all for that. Quicker than I expected, but let's start looking for albums.
