I understand and accept your second point, about stifling discussion.

Not sure I get the other objections though. Can't a poll be made by anybody, not just the mods? And a poll can be a single-vote poll, the single vote being the one you are wanting to vote off for that round.

Anyway, it was just an idea, not something I'll lose sleep over.

That's exactly what happened in a game on RYM, the Big 4 Genre Threads? Every week for about half a year, we'd vote on our top four bands of a genre. It was kind of fun. Not as fun as this, though. Anyway, we could vote for four, and no more or less. Of course, since there weren't specified options, people could vote for practically whoever fit the bill.

I'm not up for the idea of stifling conversation. Mama don't allow no stifle band in here.

Only if you wanted to make a new thread for each battle, since only mods can add or change polls once the thread has been posted. You could do that if you wanted, but I'd rather keep it all in one thread.

You only vote for one band when you're down to the final three. Before that you're voting for anywhere from four to two bands, depending on how far along the battle is. So far as I know there's no way to set a specific limit on the amount of votes you can cast.

3. Yardbirds - Having a Rave Up
6. The Rolling Stones - Aftermath
5. The Who - My Generation
10. The Animals - The Animals ['64 Debut]

As much as I hate to vote off The Who, one of my all time favorite bands, most of these albums are better. I'm also voting off Animals and RS because these are not rock and roll albums.

Looks like I got the first vote.

Thankfully, most people with sense are going to counteract your votes, but I'm genuinely worried that you might actually make a difference down the line.

Rock and Roll is different from blues rock and rhythm and blues. I'm just trying to stay truthful. I don't care about other people's votes for this round and I'm well aware most people may counteract mine. Still, that's not stopping my vote.

I didn't see that.

Um, I think we should stick to what the list is once the round has started to avoid confusion. People are already going to be voting and replacing albums will just look unorganized. If you want, someone can make a separate rockabilly list and put that there. We already have a psychobilly list anyway.

1. Buddy Holly - Buddy Holly
2. Carl Perkins - Dance Album of Carl Perkins
3. Johnny Burnette and the Rock 'n Roll Trio - Johnny Burnette & The Rock 'n Roll Trio
4. Johnny Cash - Johnny Cash With His Hot and Blue Guitar!
5. Wanda Jackson - Wanda Jackson
6. The Meteors - In Heaven
7. The Blasters - Hard Line
8. Jerry Lee Lewis - Jerry Lee's Greatest!
9. Bravo - Bravo
10. Link Wray - Jack the Ripper

Those genres were pretty incestuous back then, so to draw such hard lines is kind of arbitrary. It's not like we're talking about Disraeli Gears or Led Zeppelin I. We're talking about Aftermath and The Animals.

I feel like our constant, genre classification slug matches are becoming one of the few consistent things about this site that's actually about music.
