Huh.
https://rateyourmusic.com/release/al...n_on_broadway/ http://www.ign.com/articles/2006/05/...ll-time?page=4 http://www.stereogum.com/1192682/top...hment/genesis/ http://www.thetoptens.com/top-rock-opera-musicals/ Based on my experiences, RYM is really accuarate when it comes to genre voting and an overall consensus. @Tech
My pleasure. @Bats I kinda focused on third wave ska. I always saw 2 Tone as closer to the original, and I thought we were making a ska list too. Go ahead and make one of those if you want, but focus more on 2 Tone. Folk Punk Andrew Jackson Jihad- People That Can Eat Other People Are the Luckiest People in the World Against Me!- Gender Dysphoria Blues Chuck Ragan- Gold Country Violent Femmes- Violent Femmes The Pogues- If I Should Fall From Grace With God Dropkick Murphys- The Meanest of Times Flogging Molly- Drunken Lullabies Cousin Boneless- Trash Masquerade The Front Bottoms- The Front Bottoms Titus Adronicus- The Monitor

Did you check the other three links?
And. http://www.allmusic.com/album/the-la...y-mw0000650187 They call it a "massive rock opera." this isn't to say it is a rock opera and everyone should believe it, but it is widely accepted as a legitimate rock opera because it does in fact tell a story. It's confusing, but it is indeed a prog album. |

I'm not really talking about that album in particular, but sometimes voters can be really dense.
Edit: Isn't rock opera=concept album? Also, are we going to have a survivor survivor thread at the end of all these to choose MB's most loved album? We have the Rock, Metal, and Pop ones so far. I feel like at some point we should organize the other genres into one too. And theoretically, we vote for a winner of each thread after all the individual genres have been gone through? I realize this is long-term but just wondering.

All I can tell you is that I read Peter Gabriel's biography, and nowhere when he spoke about The Lamb did he refer to it as a rock opera. And he wrote the damn thing.
Anyway I thought you wanted to drop this? Throwing a load of links at me after I've said **** it do what you want is a little like kicking someone when they're down, is it not? Stuff your links. I grew up with that album and nobody I know has ever called it a rock opera. But, you know, you do you and I'll do me.

Will you please calm down? The only reason I brought it back up was because people's stress seemed to tone down. You're the only one really getting agitated at something so small as a genre label. I don't care if it gets on the rock opera list or not. I just find it pointless to go through all of this arguing over one list, so I threw in my two sense when people started "discussing" again instead of "arguing." If you're as old as you say you are, then shouldn't you try to be a little more adult about this? I don't care how old you are, becase I spend a lot of time actually studying these things. I've done school reprts on music, I run a grunge wiki database, and I'm part of a rock based wiki, and you're the first person I've ever met who's ever said it wasn't a rock opera. You said you've never heard someone refer to it as that, but given you're history it almost seems like you've never really taken the time to discuss rock operas until recently.
Oh, yeah. And the links weren't specifically aimed towards you. Now you're telling me I'm still trying to argue, when that's not the case. |

Anyway, I told you I no longer care. You're the one who keeps bringing it up when apparently it had been put to bed, so who's the adult now? I'll certainly respond to anything I feel is directed towards me, and your "Huh" did indeed seem like you were directing that comment at me. I say again, if the creator of the album doesn't call it a rock opera then it really doesn't matter how many RYM drones do. If you want the subject dropped, just stop bringing it back up. Tell you what: I'll just leave the thread for now and then we'll see if you can resist the temptation to bring it back up again. Go and do your punk screamo or whatever list, and just let this go.
