Made some changes:
1. Created Post-Hardcore. 2. Removed Husker Du from Hardcore Punk, and replaced with Rohnert Park by Ceremony. 3. Kept Velvet Underground on psych rock, moved Todd Rundgren to Art Rock, put Os Mutantes on Psych. 4. Replaced Ziggy Stardust with Aladdin Sane, so Bowie can now go on the Rock Opera list as well. 5. Hope you don't mind me putting these here for some revisions, J. Here's the current Rock Opera list: 1. Pink Floyd - The Wall 2. Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell 3. The Who - Quadrophenia 4. David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars 5. Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down Broadway 6. Rush - 2112 7. Queen - A Night at the Opera 8. Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare 9. The Pretty Things - S. F. Sorrow 10. Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage Taking either Dream Theater or Mindcrime off is always an option, although to be honest, I've now realized Images and Words should have been on the Prog Metal list instead. Metropolis Pt. 2 is more rock than metal. However, we also have to insert Ziggy in here somewhere. If you have any more ideas for rock operas, even ones that are on a list already, let me know. As with Ziggy, I can probably work something out. And AOR as well: 1. Boston - Boston 2. Def Leppard - Hysteria 3. Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell (20,000,000 copies sales, so I'll include it) 4. Journey - Escape 5. Styx - the Grand Illusion 6. Foriegner - 4 7. Strangeways - Walk in the FIre 8. Magnum - On a Storyteller's Night 8. Heart - Heart 10. Cheap Trick - At Budokan I think this one looks pretty good.

I'd cut Dream Theater. I'd also switch up Tommy and Quadrophenia, because Tommy was the original, and the consensus is it's a better album.

But nobody answered my question. Are we really allowed to use the same album twice? If you want to revise it, do whatever.
EDIT: Also, Quadrophenia is a hell of a lot better than Tommy. It's higher rated on both Rateyourmusic and Besteveralbums. Tommy might have been more influential, but Quadrophenia is better there. Rolling Stone magazine does rank TOmmy higher on their greatest albums chart, but RS has BS opinions and they are very prejudiced against progressive rock. I remember looking back recently and seeing little to no prog on it save Pink FLoyd and MAYBE Genesis and Rush. Last edited by JGuy Grungeman; 01-06-2016 at 10:57 AM. |
