I just got done with the first two Devo albums, and I plan on playing Talking Heads afterwards. Let's not use Freedom of Choice. I'm just concerned about the positions of the first two albums. I mean, Duty Now to the Future has far more synthpunk influence and music in it that Q & A (that's my term for the debut, if no one else uses it). The two should logically be switched around.

Again, I don't really see a necessity. Both have a significant amount of each genre.

SUGGEST ME AN ALBUM - I'm probably not going to listen to it but I will if you bother me enough.

No. There's barely any synth in the debut. That's the problem. Can you give me some examples of synthpunk in the debut?

There's a hell of a lot of synth in Are We Not Men.

OK, I'm playing a little of the songs at a time. I can tell there's some. But it's nowhere near as abundant as in their second. I mean Duty sounded like a band of robots. That's the thing. Their second is more heavily synth based. I admit there are some synth elements in the debut, but it's not as common as in the freakin' robot attacking Tokyo that was Duty Now for the Future, and it wasn't even enough to warrant it as a major genre rather than a common influence. I can write the second as a dead on synth album.

I can't however write the first as New Wave. That's the one issue I'm having.

Why not? Don't tell me you have a ridiculous, JGuy-ish definition of new wave.

New Wave to me is just less time-restrained punk with electronic and pop elements. No real complication. But yeah, I'd say that totally fits Q & A. Heck, that's the first thing I'd call it.
