Unsung is a great song, haven't listened to any others though. Honestly it's great in a sort of Nostalgia way for me, not sure I could ever fully get into them.

Helmet
In my book. A great band with a great sound. I love the guitar tones Page Hammilton comes up with, has personality and there's that sort of simpleness you hear, but there's also this cleverness behind the way he plays. I still hear bands coming out of the woodwork that sort of try to mimic the tones you hear in a Helmet song. Some of you might scratch your head and ask the question, so is he saying Helmet is influential? Yes, yes I am. Influenced a lot of what you hear nu-metal bands copying with their own guitar tones and overall sound. But where nu-metal went wrong, Helmet had perfected and actually pulled off well and made it sound pretty good. I do not not consider Helmet nu-metal, because they're not. I saw them live last year with Filter, f*cking amazing. I had finally gotten to see Helmet in a live setting, even though not with the line up I had hoped. As long as Page is at the microphone though, and is heading the charge with his guitar, I'm happy.
Any of you care for the band? |
