So is the p-word the new go to for when someone expresses an (often correct, from my experience) opinion that isn't yours? I almost don't even know what it means anymore.

Even though I voted Dopesmoker, I'm pretty shocked it's winning so dramatically. Holy Mountain is kinda considered one of those meccas, a lot of people I know prefer it.

I'm not surprised it's a blowout.

I had a whole post explaining my take on the division between Doepsmoker and Holy Mountain, but in short, I think people who want constant progression want nothing to do with it and actively despise it. Whenever I've seen someone detract Dopesmoker, it's pretty much always because "it's the same thing over and over."

The Batlord fits this description perfectly. Go listen to your viking metal and power metal.

I think it's more that people who like Holy Mountain are traditionalists who prefer blander, old-style doom instead of more experimental doom like Dopesmoker.

Volume I is better, you should check it out.
