But I think In Rainbows and Kid A are beautiful. And Amnesiac is very autumnal.

Like spinning plates ('why us?' version) is really nice.

I’m thinking In Rainbows is their best. Has a psychedelic and otherworldly feel. Weird fishes is like a nightmare. I like the way the album flows and is a bit more accessible than some of the others. A more ‘musical’ quality I guess.

That's a nice way to describe it, it does flow very nicely. I love in rainbows from the basement, absolutely incredible.

Kid A for me, always. It was the first Radiohead album I bought. I couldn't stand them until I heard it.

I worked in college radio in the early '90s when Radiohead were becoming one of the biggest British 'alternative' bands. "Creep" was everywhere. I hated the song. I actually saw them live in 1993 in L.A. on the Pablo Honey tour, but I wasn't there for them. Two of my favorites - Moonshake and PJ Harvey - were opening for Radiohead. I was there for them, and for the opportunity to interview Moonshake on their very rare tour of the U.S. We stuck around for Radiohead after the other bands and it was one of the most ridiculous, bombastic shows I've ever seen. Pointlessly over the top. My hatred for Radiohead was sealed.

A few years later, after I was done with college radio, any time I was hanging out with friends, at someone else's house, I started hearing OK Computer on everyone's stereo. I knew it was Radiohead, so I didn't want to admit to myself that I actually liked some of what I heard. I wasn't ready yet to make that admission to myself or anyone else.

A few years after that, I was living in Los Angeles, shopping at the legendary (and sadly now long gone) Aron's Records in Hollywood, thumbing through the stacks. And getting distracted by the music on Aron's sound system, music I'd never heard before. Haunting, bleak yet moving. I knew I needed to hear more. I went up to the counter where Aron's usually displayed what they were playing at the moment... and discovered Kid A by Radiohead. Of course it was Radiohead. I stuck around and listened some more and ended up going home with the album that day.

I never thought I'd buy a Radiohead album, but there it was. My journey started from that point forward. Amnesiac, Hail To The Thief, and on. All of them fantastic, most of them masterpieces in my opinion. I eventually backtracked to OK Computer which I do like, for the most part. Not all of it, but a few standout tracks. Kid A remains a favorite. Thief, In Rainbows, KOL... other favorites. I'm glad they left behind the excesses of their early years and matured into a truly interesting, meaningful band. I've never had the chance to see them live again, although I'd like to. I hope they continue making music after Moon Shaped Pool, although I've heard rumors they might not regroup. I assume those are only rumors, though, and don't contain much truth. I certainly hope not.
