That's it.

Not to say the rest of these bands are consistently great, but I can't remember the last time I eagerly revisited a modern Exodus album after the initial buzz wore off of me, it's always a couple killer tracks and a bunch of filler. Ironbound is the only recent album by any of these bands that I revisit at least annually, there's still a very strong focus on songwriting.

I don't even really like the good Exodus, tbh.

What about bands like Angel Dust that started out as thrash, went on hiatus and reformed playing power metal?

Honestly if you haven't heard To Dust You Will Decay and Into the Dark Past you are missing out on pure gems of thrash!

While I'm familiar w/ all these bands I haven't heard some of these groups later albums . Which makes me unqualified to pick said groups.

Exodus' lastest is a killer !!! Bands like Overkill, Testament and Kreator ( other then a hum drum mid period ) just keep on killing. I actually like Agent Steel better with Bruce Hall.

I went with Exodus, Slayer, and Testament - Exodus has been killing it ever since Tempo, all of those albums are solid as **** and the riffs...Holt has really come into his own over the years and I'm really impressed with him. I do wish Dukes had stuck around for Blood In, Blood Out as I've heard some of the tracks with his vocals and actually dig them better than Souza's delivery. Slayer's latest...I'm not real big on that but still need to give it a few more listens, I really dig a lot of the stuff on Christ Illusion and World Painted Blood and still listen to those albums frequently. Testament...Eric Peterson has really grown to be a monster player and not just the rhythm guy and now you've got Hoglan and DiGiorgio who are just sick, sick musicians - like the line-up they had on The Gathering - DiGiorgio, James Murphy, and Lombardo...that was insane.

Yeah, that was pretty much a thrash supergroup.

I saw the above mentioned Testament line-up live @ the Whiskey on the The Gathering tour. What an amazing live performance ! And I too really like Christ Illusion & World Painted Blood and .being a huge Holt fan I was expecting much more from Repentless then I feel it actually delivers.

I also need to give some props to Death Angel here. an absolutely phenomenal act live and other wise.
