If you do survivor threads all the time it loses its novelty and people get sick of them.

I do one about every 6 months or so, I already have my next one lined up but I won't be doing it until sometime in the fall.

The problem is if you give people like Batty and Trolly a couple of chocolate biscuits, they're not happy unless they're eating the whole pack.

The amount of clone threads in this place is becoming a fucking epidemic.

Well I actually liked playing Batlord's metal marathon, I can see the concept of where he is going with it, so I hope he keeps it up.

But yes, when clone threads keep popping up it does get tiring, we already have a metal one going, do we need another?

On the flipside though, there is not much going on in music banter. Outside of Bats metal marathon survivor and UN's journal, there is not much keeping my interest here, as most of the forums are dead.

So if gets people logging in it can only be a good thing.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I get the feeling that people are losing interest in my Metal Album Thread already, unless black metal just doesn't have as big a fanbase as I thought it did on this site. I was all gung ho about my Rock Album Survivor thread, but TBH it's already kind of exhausting keeping up one thread, and the interest from others doesn't seem to be there.

Black metal has never been big in North America, it is much more of a European mainland phenomenon, so don't expect the large amounts of votes you got with death metal. (your probably already aware of this fact I imagine)

Yes survivor threads are a lot of work lol, that's why I don't do them to often. I would kill your rock album thread for now, and maybe in a couple of months do a classic rock band survivor. It will garner much more interest and doesn't require people to have to sit down and listen to albums to play. Keep it short and simple, survivor marathons will tire people out, cheers.

General metal, thrash metal and stuff like prog metal etc will always gets a lot of participation on here, whereas stuff like black metal is a more specialized sub-genre and the voting fanbase will be a lot lower.

Nothing wrong with including it, but imo best to put up a popular sub-genre for the next battle.

I think you overestimate the amount of people who give a flying **** about most prog metal on this site.
