Quotes from Wiki? It's an academically recognized logical fallacy. The fact that you are unfamiliar with it is your problem. Here's several more sites that will explain just why appealing to majority opinion as a logical argument is wrong.

I'd have a hard time picking between the two if Manowar wasn't so horrible and Maiden wasn't so awesome.
