Default Rock Album Survivor

The Metal Album Survivor thread has been a success, so why not just a general thread for rock itself? Obviously this would be a far more extensive venture, and cover a lot of genres which I have little to no familiarity with, so there would have to be a lot more participation from all of you as to what genres and albums to include, so comments are not just appreciated, but necessary.

And metal will not be included. Not because it doesn't deserve to be, but there's already a thread for that, so whatever album ends up winning that thread can be used whenever this thread comes to a final stage.

These are the genres that I've come up with in five minutes, so it is in no way complete. This is just spit balling.

Awesome idea! Let me know if/when you want suggestions for psychedelic and folk rock. That's my territory.

I'll suggest a few for whatever you're looking for first.

Fun twist: I pick the prog albums and Trollheart picks the hardcore albums.

I'm not really looking for anything FIRST. This is still in the embryonic stage. I want to get a few lists down before I start, and first come first serve. Remember, the lists are top tens. So quit bull****ting and start throwing albums at me.

Psychedelic rock (these are all from the '60s, so we can trim it and throw in a few from other decades):
Beatles - Revolver
Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Doors - The Doors
Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground and Nico
Love - Forever Changes
United States of America - The United States of America
Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incense and Peppermints
Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?

I'm assuming it's OK to include two Beatles albums?

That's fine, because I just realized that I forgot to include Hendrix.
