We told you? (That's also how I managed to clue you in on Primordial, I believe.) You insisted on picking different sub-genres for variety's sake, regardless of whether the bands were worth covering.

No no no. You told me about Brazil AFTER I had done it. Spain you hadn't a Scooby about and Ireland, yes you turned me on to Primordial, thanks for that.

As for subgenres: what's the ****ing point in sticking to one subgenre? I'm trying to give a decent overall flavour of what Metal is like in each country. Not just thrash or doom or prog but ALL their metal. Makes sense to me.

If you're going to get an overall look at metal as a whole in a single country then you're going to need to dedicate the whole month to that one place. Four bands does not a sample size make. Might as well find a scene of some sort worth covering and explore that.

Thergothon has the growls though. If you're going to do doom, it should be something like a screechy drone doom album that has very little progression.

That's Iraqi nu metal.

Yeah bring on the cybergrind. NOTE: I have no idea what that genre sounds like.

Just don't do djent. You'll hate it, we'll hate, and nobody will win.

When in doubt, RYM.

And he doesn't have to worry about djent. I'm giving him some Meshuggah for the Torture Chamber.

Mwahahahaha! No mercy! Honestly though, I used to hate them too, but I guess I just listened to enough of them that now they're becoming ear sex.

I hope you choose destroy erase improve for Trollheart to listen to. It's a lot more raw than nothing.

It's also more dynamic. It's probably not going to offend his ears in the same way that grindcore is. I'm trying to give him something that will be completely monotonous, unmelodic, and mechanical. Hence, Nothing.

Lord! Obviously I can't get an overall idea of a country's scene in six-odd bands, I know that. But it would be more of a balanced look than just taking one subgenre. It just shows the different types of metal each country has to offer. Anyway, it's not meant to be totally representative of the country, just an idea, the same as I don't expect to fill someone in totally on Star Trek in just one month. I do what I can, being limited by time.
