Figured Rock Bottom would rule the roost here, was debating pitting it against Hair of the Dog instead, but I still don't think Nazareth would have stood a chance. Rock Bottom is probably right up there in my top 3 riffs of all time.

I can see the relationship in each riff EPOCH. Another similar one for either of these would have been Sammy Hagar's I Don't Need Love. Nice match up though, but I gotta go with my man Schenker on this one.

UFO - 2
Nazareth - 0
Done

And yeah, UFO all the way. Nazareth's just sounds like a blatant rip-off of Zep

UFO - 4
Naz - 0

Looks like that about does it for Nazareth. I know Pet_Sounds is up next, but he's mourning a family loss, so if he wants to be skipped that's fine with me. If that's the case, then Plankton you're up.

The great-granddaddies of riffs as we know them…

The Kinks - "You Really Got Me"

The Rolling Stones - "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

I'll have to think about this one.

The Kinks' riff might have more historical significance, with it's influence on punk and metal, but "Satisfaction" just has such swing that really works with the song as a whole.

Satisfaction - 1
You Really Got Me - 0

And can I get put on the queue?

I didn't even like it when VH covered it, but I did love Devo's cover of the other. As for the originals, pretty much the same.

Stones - 3
Kinks - 1
