How do you feel about this song? It's fairly riff driven, and I don't think it'd be too hectic or erratic to feel all over the place like some Metal songs. The production may be a turn-off though, but I thought it'd be worth a try to share.

If the OP wants serious with his metal he should turn to symphonic metal where the soprano vocals meet the guitars, violins, cello's, pianos and various wind instruments.

Or he shouldn't, since symphonic metal is ludicrous, overblown, and far too cheesy to take itself as seriously as it does.

Is that your hipster way of suggesting Carbonized?

I don't see why not

Are the lyrics playing a larger part in making them sound cheesy to you?

I was a little bit surprised in how you seem to like the harsh vocals in Rotting Christ's, and Sigh's songs, (or at least tolerated them better) compared to Persuader's more melodic approach. I guess I thought you would prefer Persuader's vocals as you seemed to express a dislike with the Death/Black Metal vocals, so I thought Persuader's Power Metal style would sound better to you, or maybe it's just the way Persuader's vocalist specifically sung on that song?

Anyways here's another song with what I'd call Power Metal vocals, that I think you may like.

Here's a song you may like, I'm a bit more unsure but hopeful with this one. It has harsh Black Metal like vocals.

I've mostly chosen these two songs to kinda try to get a better picture of what you dislike about various metal styles' vocals.

on a secodn listen i actually enjoyed the first song, tbh. i was drunk as hell but i am gonna give it another go right now and see what i think.

the second track is probably my favorite one posted in this thread thus far. it gets me pretty hyped which is the sort of feeling i like to get from music these days.

btw i appreciate everyone's help who is postsing in this thread. i will try to respond to each suggestion in due time. it might take me a bit longer to get to some than others (for example wpnfire posted a bunch of tracks so it will take me a bit longer to get around to responding to him, but hopefully i'll get there eventually.

once i feel like i've got a decent grasp on the kind of tracks i like i'll start asking for album suggestions. but i'm not quite there yet.

So, what are some common traits of the stuff you've liked? It would be easier to make suggestions based on clues. You say you like beats in hip hop, and riff-heavy metal can have the same effect, I'm gonna throw some sludge/stoner at you.

Unfortunately, they don't have anything from the album I'm looking for on Youtube, so I'm using a Grooveshark link to the song I'm look for. Hope that's cool.

Acid Bath - Tranquilized

And if you still don't get what a riff is, it's basically what a rhythm guitarist plays as opposed to lead guitar. It doesn't have to be, but in the context of what I'm giving you it's the repetitive riffs played throughout the song. They form the backbone of the song.

Since you said you liked that Vreid song I'm going to recommend a bit of other stuff kinda similar to it.

Edit: also since you seemed to express an interest in music that can hype you up, I'm gonna try to find some music that hypes me up that I think you may also enjoy. A lot of these songs have some good driving riffs, and could be seen as more rocking/groovy than some of the other songs I previously posted. The only thing I'm unsure about would be the vocals on most of these next songs. Also, since I don't want to take up too much space with just videos I'm gonna spoiler each video, so just click on the spoiler to get to the link to the song.

Spoiler for more songs to try:
