The popular opinion is Elvis Presley. I'll go with Jim Morrison (personal preference).

Tell me you wouldn't kill to have a lead singer in your band like Freddie mercury.

Not only does he have the range he has that golden touch that makes songs into anthems, few vocalist can pull that off imo.

Like him or not its pretty hard to deny he was one of the best vocalist in Rock music.

There is no best singer.

Mark E Smith can't sing a note, yet you replace him in The Fall with Freddie Mercury or Robert Plant and they would be fucking awful.

Freddie was not only the greatest showman of all time (dude could hold 80,000 in the palm of his hand) but he also the best range and command of his voice. I just happen to like Plant better.

Speaking of Freddie...

Im going to throw a different pebble into the pool here and say, Noddy Holder. Certainly not the best but definitely one of a kind.

Beefheart's got all the nuances of the great blues singers down without sounding like a copycat (except for Howlin' Wolf a little bit). Plus he's got a four octave range and makes the best music ever made. Hard to not call him the best at this point.

Obviously Freddie Mercury is up there with the best however some other contenders would be Robert Plant, Kurt Cobain, Marilyn Manson and Gerard Way.

I'll probably get a lot of **** for this post but never mind
