That's kind of what I love about a lot of that era of metalcore tbh. It's like a lost wave of next-era thrash that could have been if thrash had lasted past the early 90s, but with a simple directness from 90s hardcore that made it more brutal than 80s thrash. There's plenty of more experimental metalcore, but that kind of blue collar, in-your-face stuff wasn't trying to evolve too much, just trying to hit you in the face as hard as possible. But H8000 was still just a couple years ahead of the game, so it was a bit more influential than it was classic tbh.
I don't think anyone could have foreseen that metalcore would become this:
I'll take the old, rough edged stuff over that any day. Although I'm sure some good, very polished modern metalcore exists... somewhere.
