Don't get me wrong, I kinda like Thy Art Is Murder, but they're not a great band by any means. If they were around in the heydey of 90's death metal then they would just have been pure 2nd tier.

And they're definitely deathcore. Just as tech death is still death metal, tech deathcore is still deathcore.

Don't get me wrong. Tech death metal is still death metal. But I don't consider Thy Art Is Murder to be deathcore. I consider them to still be death metal. I don't think they add enough of the hardcore sound into their music to be considered deathcore. Like I said, they only have an edge of it. Not enough really to cross over into deathcore.

They still sound like Hatebreed-esque beatdown hardcore combined with death metal to me. And they're not even good tech death. Perhaps I'm not the best person to judge tech death, as I see much of it as just dull wank that trades songwriting for technical bragging rights. And Thy Art Is Murder trades not only songwriting for tech bragging, but actual tech bragging for cheesy breakdowns.

One of those bands I can enjoy thoroughly for several minute(s) before needing to listen to something else.
