Corrosion of Conformity was taken out with a resounding majority. Kinda bummed. Not because I think Deliverance should have gone on further, but if every song on the album were as strong as "Albatross" or "Clean My Wounds", then it should have been a contender for top spot. My newfound man crush on Pepper Keenan has nothing to do with it. I swear. Next round...
5. Melvins - Houdini 4. Boris - Heavy Rocks 3. High On Fire - Death is This Communion 2. Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops 1. Mastodon - Leviathan Vote 2 off. Polls end on March 29. And as we're halfway through this battle, I'm announcing the next one: proto-metal. Proto-Metal 1. Black Sabbath - Paranoid 2. Deep Purple - Machine Head 3. Budgie - Never Turn Your Back On a Friend 4. Judas Priest - Stained Class 5. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV 6. AC/DC - Back In Black 7. Blue Oyster Cult - Secret Treaties 8. Rainbow - Rising 9. Flower Travellin' Band - Satori 10. UFO - Lights Out Here are Youtube vids for the albums in case anyone needs to listen to them -- along with a working download link for an album I couldn't find anything else for. I'm pretty happy with the lineup for this one, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the entire UFO album, so I think this'll be another knock-down drag-out fight. The vids are up in the OP in case anyone doesn't feel like trolling through new posts just to find them, and I'll be posting them in every update from here on out, so there's no excuse for anyone not being at least mildly familiar with each one if they intend to participate. Proto-Metal Battle Album Youtube Vids Spoiler for Proto-Metal Battle Youtube Vids:

Would it be too much of a personal choice to remove something from the grindcore battle and replace it with a Fuck the Facts album? They don't seem to be rated quite as high as some grind bands, but they're still clearly top shelf, and using bands that have unique takes on their genres makes for a more interesting battle IMO.
I took William the Bloody's advice about limiting my own personal feelings toward bands when making lists, so I don't want to just throw out a band who deserves it more, or who is generally considered to be more essential, but since this is a forum battle rather than a thread in a forum dedicated to metal in general or one specific sub-genre, I try to take MB's opinions as a whole into account as well as generally accepted wisdom. Such as the metalcore list; depending on the audience I might throw in more acts such as Unearth or Trivium, just cause a certain type of metalcore fan probably hasn't even heard of Ringworm or Integrity, but as many of the metal fans on this forum have diverse, comprehensive tastes that often include hardcore, post-hardcore, and noise rock, I took the chance that they would be familiar with and more interested in a band like Snapcase or Unbroken. P.S. @ William- I noticed you stopped posting during our discussion. I don't know if you just aren't interested in the thread, or if my style of debate just made you feel like I was attacking you, but I just wanted to say that no antagonism or insult was meant. That's just how I post.
