We'll never work anyways... but I was totally thinking of Acid Witch. I do not like Acid Witch at all. Acid Bath is kinda the ****in ****. Revised list, with 'Down' an unfortunate casualty because of the stupid rules:
Down - NOLA Melvins - Houdini Eyehategod - Dopesick Boris - Heavy Rocks

If only Pink was more stoner/sludge then that would have been the shoe in.

Have you heard Black - Implication Flooding? It's their collab with Keiji Haino, and it might be the only bit of his work that you don't find "unlistenable." Anyway, that's my favourite release from them, surprise surprise.

Alright, so as always I am refining my lists, and I seek opinions. A while ago I took Between the Buried and Me from metalcore/mathcore and put them in progressive metal, since they're so progressive that it made sense. I'm now considering moving Protest the Hero from metalcore to progressive metal as well, since I've seen them called progressive, but they seem much more of a metalcore band at heart than BtBaM, so I don't know that it would be justified.
It would free up room in metalcore to add either Norma Jean or Earth Crisis or Unearth (me neither, but they're still an important band in the genre), and I could then move Gojira from prog to groove/post-thrash to strengthen that battle. I mean, out of all the battles, I'm most dubious about that one, and it's just so hard to find bands that deserve to be included in this thread... Groove/Post-Thrash Metal 1. Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power 2. Meshuggah - Chaosphere 3. Machine Head - The Blackening 4. Sepultura - Chaos A.D. 5. Lamb of God - As the Palaces Burn 6. Exhorder - The Law 7. Hatebreed - Perseverence 8. Prong - Cleansing 9. Anthrax - Sound of White Noise 10. Overkill - Bloodletting And these are prog and metalcore as they currently stand... Progressive Metal 1. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime 2. Death - Symbolic 3. Dream Theater - Images and Dreams 4. Voivod - Nothingface 5. Devin Townsend - Ocean Machine: Biomech 6. Opeth - Blackwater Park 7. Between the Buried and Me - Colors 8. Mastodon - Blood Mountain 9. Fates Warning - Awaken the Guardian 10. Gojira - From Sirius to Mars Metal/Mathcore 1. Converge - Jane Doe 2. Poison the Well - The Opposite of December 3. Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing 4. Protest the Hero - Fortress 5. Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works 6. Ringworm - Birth Is Pain 7. Integrity - To Die For 8. Botch - We Are the Romans 9. Snapcase - Progression Through Unlearning 10. Unbroken - Life. Love. Regret

Side note: I'm also wondering if I should add a short, five band list of wild card albums that don't really fit into any genre, just so unique and awesome albums don't get the shaft due to genre Nazism. I could fit in Bathory's Hammerheart and Danzig III without having to shove them into battles that they don't entirely fit into (doom and alt metal respectively).
